Our Mythical Childhood

We are delighted to be taking part in a ground-breaking project funded by the European Research Council:

Our Mythical Childhood...

The Reception of Classical Antiquity in Children’s and Young Adults’ Culture in Response to Regional and Global Challenges.

Over the next five years, scholars around the world will be contributing to Our Mythical Childhood, studying the role of myth in young people's lives.

We've already begun work on our part – Animating the Ancient World – making five new vase animations with mythical themes.  We'll also be making a documentary about the vases and the animations and, naturally, there'll be a wealth of supporting materials, information, and events too.

The project is being spear-headed by Prof. Katarzyna Marciniak of the University of Warsaw, while we'll be based at the University of Roehampton alongside Dr Susan Deacy, who's conducting research into the potential of classical mythology to engage autistic children.
